The UCI Holland cup
Le Patron is proud partner of the new international UCI competition 1.2! The Holland Cup is an international competition of 6 races where continental and pro continental teams appear at the start.
The organization wants to organize a strong field of participants where young talents (patrons) can present themselves and show their skills.
On April 21st the second race takes place: the Arno Wallaard Memorial. It is a tribute to a young talented rider who died at the age of 26. He had just signed his first contract with a professional cyclist, but he passed away before he could ride his first race.
Liewe Westra won this race in 2009 and in 2012 Dylan van Baarle was the fastest rider. The race is 184 kilometers long with a lot of flat straight roads, meaning strong winds and hardly any windbreaks.
Mikkel Bjerg will start in the leader’s jersey and we can’t wait to see his performance. After his first victory in the Holland Cup, he fell and broke his hand. He has worked hard to recover and we’re glad this 19 year old talent is able to start at the second league match. His team mate, the great Belgian talent Jasper Philipsen of the pro continental team Hagens Berman Axeon, is also looking forward to the Arno Wallaard Memorial. We welcome them to enter the peloton with style! Follow the livestream at www.hollandcup.cc.
